Solange’s album sales rise after fight with Jay-z

Digital sales of tracks by Solange Knowles have increased after CCTV footage of the singer allegedly attacking Jay Z was leaked, reportswebsite HipHopDX.

According to data by Nielsen SoundScan, Solange’s sales rose from 600 to 2,000 the week ending 18 May. Neilsen does not report which tracks sold the most, but the boost in sales could have been prompted by publicity following news of an altercation between Solange and her brother-in-law, Jay Z, in a lift while leaving the Met Ball in New York.

On 15 May, Beyoncé, Jay Z and Solange released a statement:

Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred … They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologised to each other, and we have moved forward as a united family.significantly lower than those of her sister’s. According to Nielsen Soundscan, Solange’s debut album, Solo Star, sold 112,000 copies and dropped off the chart five weeks after its debut. Her second full-length recording, Sol-Angel and the Hadley St Dreams in 2008, was her first US top 10 album, but reached only 180 on the UK albums chart. Losing You, from the Dev Hynes-produced EP True, reached No 22 in the UK singles chart.

According to interviews, the singer’s next album will be released in 2014. “I’m actually trying to give myself a deadline this time around,” she told Billboard last year. “One of the pros of being [an] independent [musician] is having that space and time. But it’s also a major con when you don’t set aside a deadline and keep going. When you have a goal in mind, you definitely stay motivated.”

The New York Post reports today that Jay-Z and Beyoncé are looking to buy a Hamptons home, and recently checked out a luxurious property in East Hampton. 

The home, on Further Lane, is listed through the luxury real estate firm Corcoran Group. Though the price has not been disclosed, insiders told Page Six that the home owners are asking for “around $25 million.”

The 6,500-square-foot mansion has four bedrooms and over two acres of property, complete with an apple orchard, stone pathways, heated pools, and a tennis court.

There’s also plenty of indoor space with dark wood floors, vaulted ceilings, and gorgeous furniture which would be included in the sale.

Last year, Jay and Bey spent a reported $400,000 to spend one month in Joe Farrell’s Sandcastle home in Bridgehampton, with a bowling alley, movie theater, and spa. Looks like this year they could be ready to buy their own Hamptons hideaway.

Beyonce signs happy birthday to fan

There is no doubt Shehnaz Kahn will ever forget her 22nd birthday after Beyonce stopped her concert to sing Happy Birthday to her on Monday evening.

Holding her hand in hers, the singing superstar stopped mid-gig at Birmingham’s LG Arena after noticing the student’s birthday badge.

The Halo star was performing on stage as part of her Mrs Carter World Tour when she looked down and told the excited fan: ‘You got the sign and everything, what’s your name? How do you spell it?’

She then proceeded to sing directly to her, before adding that she hoped she had said her name correctly, and kissing her on the hand.

The 31-year-old is launching a new eau de perfume or we should say, eau de Big Apple. For Bey’s fifth scent, Pulse NYC, the singer pays homage to her new hometown with a sleek bottle that looks like a building made for Gotham City and a fragrance for a woman who is “impossible to ignore, exuding sensuality and strength.”

“I thought that now that I am a New Yorker and I’ve learned about how I can accomplish anything in this city, I felt it was an appropriate energy for the new fragrance,” Beyonce shares on a behind-the-scenes video from the campaign’s photo shoot.

For the official ad images, which were art directed by ELLE magazine’s Joe Zee, Beyonce naturally used New York’s famous skyline to highlight the new scent. However, it’s hard to notice the Empire State building when Bey’s standing right next to it in a mirrored-glass encrusted mini dress looking like a sexy human skyscraper.

At the end of the BTS video, Beyonce proudly shows off the sleek, metallic blue hued bottle and jokingly says, “As you can see, it’s my favorite color. I wonder what that is?”

Beyonce still working hard to lose Baby bump

The Grammy-winning pop star, who gave birth to daughter Blue Ivy in January 2012, told a magazine that she had to lose her baby weight quickly, in time for a concert, reported The Huffington Post.

She told Shape magazine: “I gained 57 pounds when I was pregnant. I didn’t have a lot of time to lose the weight, because I scheduled a show three months after I gave birth, which I would never do again.”

Beyonce – who has posted a photo of her riding a motorbike on her Instagram account – said that the most important part of losing weight was working out what was best for her. Her routine included lots of dance workouts.

“I’m not a person that is naturally very thin. I am a person that has to work at keeping my body in shape,” she explained.

“Not everyone is supposed to be the same. Be healthy and take care of yourself, but be happy with the beautiful things that make you you.”

The 31-year-old, who is married to US rapper Jay-Z, is preparing for her upcoming Mrs Carter Show World Tour, which will kick off in Belgrade, Serbia, on April 15 before stopping off in 42 cities in the US and Europe.

Beyonce will lend her voice to the animated film “Epic,” alongside Colin Farrell, heartthrob Josh Hutcherson and “Les Miserables” starlet Amanda Seyfried.

Per a press release, “Epic” is described as a 3-D CGI adventure flick from the people who brought you “Ice Age” and “Rio.” It will tell the story of a teenage girl who finds herself magically transported into a secret world, where she must band together with a rag-tag team of characters to save their world — and the real world.

Beyonce will voice the character of Queen Tara, while Johnny Knoxville, Aziz Ansari, rapper Pitbull, “Saturday Night Live” star Jason Sudeikis and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler will also lend their voices to the cast.

This is the first movie project for Beyonce since the birth of her daughter,Blue ivy , in January. The superstar singer recently returned to the stage, when she performed for the first time since giving birth at the new Revel casino and resort in New Jersey.

Beyonce is also attached to star in a remake of “A Star Is Born,” directed by Clint Eastwood.
